Mladen, in front of his humble home (Frkašić, Croatia, 2018)
He’s one of the few ethnic Serbs who remained living in Plješivica mountain after the end of the Croatian War of Independence in 1995 when tens of thousands of Serbs fled the Croatian advance to Serb-held areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina and further to Serbia. 23 years later the best part of the villages in this land is still partially or completely uninhabited.

Hatidza (Vrdolje, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2018)

Hatidza (Vrdolje, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2018)<br>Hatidza is the last living inhabitant of the out-of-the-way, high-altitude village of Vrdolje. Cars rarely pass this way and even when they do, they often take the well-trampled pathway to her house instead of the inaccessible road to the next village - Lukomir. And Hatidza is always there, happy to greet every misguided passenger and show them the right way.
